How much does a website cost in India in 2026?

Honest 2026 pricing for Indian web projects — from ₹15k landing pages to ₹5L+ web apps. What drives cost up, what drives it down, and the red flags to dodge before paying anyone.

The short answer

A real, modern website in India in 2026 costs ₹15,000 to ₹5,00,000+. The number depends almost entirely on what you actually need.

Most small businesses pay between ₹25,000 and ₹75,000. Most product startups pay between ₹75,000 and ₹3,00,000.

That's the honest range. Anyone quoting you "₹3,000 full website" is selling you a templated WordPress install that'll embarrass you in six months. Anyone quoting ₹15,00,000 for a 5-page brochure site is padding.

The three real tiers

Tier 1 — Starter · ₹15,000 to ₹25,000

What you get:

  • 1 to 3 responsive pages
  • A contact form that emails you
  • Basic SEO (sitemap, robots, meta tags)
  • Hosting on Vercel or Firebase (free for most small sites)
  • 1 revision round

What it's for: a freelancer landing page, a local shop, a portfolio, a pre-launch waitlist.

What it's not for: e-commerce, blogs, multi-language, anything that grows.

Tier 2 — Business site · ₹45,000 to ₹1,00,000

What you get:

  • 5 to 10 pages with a blog
  • CMS so you can update text and images yourself (Sanity, Notion, or Firestore-backed)
  • Real SEO setup including Open Graph cards, structured data, sitemap submission to Google
  • Lead capture wired to email or CRM
  • Performance tuning to Lighthouse 90+
  • 2 revision rounds

What it's for: a real small business that wants to be found on Google, capture leads, and publish content.

Tier 3 — Custom web app · ₹1,00,000 to ₹5,00,000+

What you get:

  • Custom architecture (Next.js, Remix, full-stack)
  • User accounts, payments, dashboards, role-based admin
  • Third-party API integrations (CRM, ERP, payment gateways)
  • Multi-language or multi-region
  • Performance + security audit
  • Ongoing maintenance retainer

What it's for: a product. Not a marketing page — an actual web application that customers log into.

What drives cost up

  • Number of unique page templates. "20 pages" is cheap if it's the same template 20 times. Three custom templates is more work than ten pages of one design.
  • Custom design vs. theme. Bespoke design adds ₹15,000 to ₹50,000 depending on depth (just pages? whole brand system?).
  • Animations and 3D. Each scroll animation, model viewer, or motion graphic is real work. ₹5,000 to ₹30,000 each.
  • Integrations. Stripe takes a day. Razorpay + GST + invoicing + Tally export takes a week.
  • Languages. Adding Tamil + English bilingual layouts roughly doubles design QA time.
  • CMS scope. Letting a client edit page copy is one thing. Letting them edit the navigation structure is another.

What drives cost down

  • Use a starting template. We sell six at ₹15,000–₹45,000 because the design groundwork is already done. Customisation happens on top.
  • Skip the blog at launch. Most small businesses never publish more than 3 posts. Add the blog when you actually need it.
  • Postpone integrations. Launch with a contact form. Add Razorpay when you have customers asking to pay.
  • Pick proven hosting. Vercel + Firebase is free for most small sites. Don't pay for dedicated hosting until traffic forces you.

Red flags to dodge

  1. "₹5,000 full website" Instagram ads — almost certainly a templated WordPress install. Maintenance breaks within months.
  2. Anyone asking for 100% upfront — industry standard is 40–50% on kickoff, balance on delivery.
  3. No fixed-price proposal — hourly billing for marketing sites is a trap. You'll be billed for revisions you assumed were included.
  4. Hosting locked to the agency — if you can't take your domain and files elsewhere, you're hostage.
  5. No source code handover — every project we ship hands over Git access + deployment credentials. Don't accept less.

How to brief properly (and save money)

Before you ask for a quote, prepare four things:

  1. Three reference sites you actually like. URLs. Not "make it like Apple."
  2. Your content. Or admit you don't have it and budget for copywriting.
  3. Your real budget range. Not "what's the minimum" — your honest top end.
  4. Your launch deadline. Hard deadline = a real number we can plan against.

With those four, any honest studio gives you a fixed quote in 48 hours.
